It was a dark and stormy night when the first signs of the approaching storm began. The clouds gathered in the distance, their edges tinged with a sickly green glow. The wind picked up, howling through the trees and sending loose objects tumbling along the ground. As the storm drew closer, the rain began to fall, at first just a light shower, but quickly intensifying into a steady downpour.
The rain came in sheets, slamming against my window like an angry mob. Lightning lit up the sky, followed immediately by deafening thunderclaps that shook the house to its foundations. I watched in awe as the trees bent and twisted in the gale, their fragile branches snapping like twigs. The streets outside were quickly inundated with water, forming impromptu rivers that flowed down the curbs and splashed against the parked cars.
Despite the fierce storm raging outside, I felt a sense of comfort and security in my warm, dry home. I threw on some soft music and made myself a cup of tea, settling in for the night. As the storm raged on outside, I drifted off to sleep, thankful to be safe and sound inside.
The next morning, the damage wrought by the storm was evident. Tree limbs lay scattered across the lawns, and the streets were littered with debris. But amid the chaos, there was a sense of renewal – the air seemed fresher, the sky clearer, and the world had been washed clean by the storm.
